In the Namibia Desert, Herman Zemel provided water to irrigate tamarisk trees. The water was drawn from drilled wells and fed through 18 kilometers of piping, to anchor the trees and halt the progress of desertification.
In the 2016 Lubango project in Africa, Herman Zemel expanded water sources beyond those of the nearby river by executing backup and alternative drilled sources.
For the pumping station along the riverbank of the settlements project, Herman Zemel established pumps which draw water to the nearest city 20 kilometers away.
